Job Summary: The Perioperative Nurse Educator is responsible for developing, implementing, conducting and evaluating in-service programs, orientation and continuing education for nurses, nursing students and other staff. Establishes educational policies and procedures; acts as a resource person to staff and management; participates in continuous Quality Performance Improvement activities for Perioperative Services and serves on special committees. Observes nursing practice and provides education as needed. Maintains all educational records. Assists the Director, Perioperative Services with various clinical responsibilities of the department to include observing clinical care and staffing needs. Acts as the primary preceptor for all new Perioperative Services personnel. Serves as a resource to other clinical areas, students, and residents. Acts as the instructor and mentor for the Perioperative Nursing program.
· Current state Registered Nurse Licensure.
· Certification as an instructor in BLS and/or ACLS where needed.
· Ability to operate equipment: projectors, audiovisual equipment, cameras, other equipment used in instruction and patient care.
