Job Summary:  Works with the Clinical Informatics and applications teams to identify training needs, develop curriculum and job aids that will help staff be more efficient and productive while standardizing procedures. Works or leads project teams in developing instructional materials in all areas of information technology systems. Participates in the design and delivery of training/orientation programs for respective solution(s) and upgraded functionality.

 

 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Coordinates curriculum design and developes training for clinical systems users.
  1. Develops training program materials in a variety of formats: self-paced eLearning, webinar, classroom, job aids.
  1. Manage the classroom through effective facilitation processes using up-to-date knowledge and skills that enable efficient delivery of curriculum and a training environment conducive to learning.
  1. Assists in development and delivery of the training provided during new employee orientation to support competency of new users in their use of information systems.
  1. Schedules and delivers on-going user training to maintain user competency across the CMH health system.
  1. Develops computer-based training instructional design, with learning assessment and validation tools.
  1. Ability to assist with scheduling, preparing for and participating in quality assurance checks on training materials that have been developed.
  1. Works with training developers, Cinical Informatics, program subject matter experts, technical support and others to assure training materials are effective.
  1. Supports staff to use technology in a consistent manner which promtes optimal delivery of quality patient care, patient safety, and confidentiality.
  1. Assists in the development of policies and procedures for training delivery in all clinical applications
  1. Uses adult learning theories and concepts; instructional design theory and methods, various software tools used in instructional design in the development of training materials, training methods and training delivery.
  1. Helps determine user needs and flexes program delivery to be applicable for the target audience.
  1. Maintains up to date knowledge of trends and advances in the field of Healthcare training, as well as new developments in hardware and software technology.
  1. Demonstrates the ability to convey messages and thoughts clearly to a diverse audience, using both verbal and written mediums.
  1. Demonstrates the ability to work with others to reach consensus while promoting change among large groups of workers.
  1. Demonstrates the use of critical thinking skills with the ability to prioritize needs rapidly.
  1. Maintains a good working relationship within all departments across the CMH system.
  1. Demonstrates the ability to coordinate information and activities, work under stress of deadlines and frequent interruptions, and to possess analytical problem solving skills
  1. Demonstrates the ability to adapt knowledge and approach to various settings, both inpatient and outpatient, in a rapidly changing technological environment.

Skills/Requirements:

·                    3 years of major information system (eg. Cerner, EPIC, Centricity, Meditech, etc) user or curriculum development experience and total of 5 years current relevant healthcare experience preferred. Cerner experience is preferred. Prior experience in healthcare informatics setting is required.

·                    Experience in Learning Management System (LMS) technology is beneficial

·                    Proficiency in software that may include Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Captivate, Photoshop, Snagit, WebEx or other training applications.

·                    Must possess a basic knowledge of integrated clinical systems.

·                    1+ years of clinical experience in the healthcare industry is preferred

·                    Prior experience in the health care setting is preferred

·                    Certified Training and Development Professional Certification beneficial

·                    Must have highly developed interpersonal skills.

·                    Must have highly developed presentation skills for a variety of audiences

·                    Ability to work efficiently in both independent and collaborative environments

·                    College degree in educational, health science, computer science or other         applicable field required.

·                    Travel to off site locations is required
