Job Summary: The Clinical Risk Manager's primary objective is to promote patient safety, enhance quality of patient care, and minimize loss to the health system.  A key responsibility to accomplish this objective is to manage the MIDAS+ incident reporting system which includes the administration, review, analysis and dissemination of data related to risk events at CMHC. Additionally, the Clinical Risk Manager will identify actual and potential risks, facilitate the determination of causative factors (conducting RCA's) and refer actions for follow-up to appropriate departments or committees. The Clinical Risk Manager will facilitate or actively participate in committees and processes related to risk management and quality/process improvement; develop and implement systems, policies, and procedures related to the risk management program; recommend appropriate revisions to new or existing policies and procedures to reduce the frequency of future occurrences; recommend ways to minimize risks through system improvements; provide support to Quality Services Department for event data required from Midas for reporting to regulatory bodies or performance improvement programs.

 Regulatory Requirements:

<!--[if !supportLists]-->·                    <!--[endif]-->Bachelor's degree with a major study in a healthcare related field.

<!--[if !supportLists]-->·                    <!--[endif]-->Course work in statistics, data analysis, data management and presentation preferred.

<!--[if !supportLists]-->·                    <!--[endif]-->3-5 years of professional/clinical experience in a healthcare environment or in risk management.

<!--[if !supportLists]-->·                    <!--[endif]-->Previous experience in performance improvement activities preferred.

<!--[if !supportLists]-->·                    <!--[endif]-->CPHRM preferred.

 

Skills:

<!--[if !supportLists]-->·                    <!--[endif]-->Basic computer skills, with experience in Microsoft Office products.

 ·                    Ability to collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.

<!--[if !supportLists]-->·                    <!--[endif]-->Will have on call responsibility.
