Job Summary: The Histotechnologist has the ability to perform routine and complex procedures in Anatomic Pathology in the preparation of surgical, post mortem, bone marrow, cytologic and other specimens for gross and microscopic analysis. The histology technologist works independently, organizes work to meet established deadlines, records all data obtained, and maintains job competence. The job also involves effective communication, leadership and interpersonal skills. The histology technologist will assume the responsibility of the supervisor in their absence.
Requirements: Nationally recognized certification credentials or equivalent. Baccalaureate degree in histology or related life science with approved training is preferred. Nontraditional routes to establish skill level may be accepted after review of experience and education.
