The Pharmacy Director oversees the operations of the Pharmacy Department, ensuring a vision and strategy for future growth. The Director of Pharmacy is responsible for the design, operation, and improvement of the organization's medication use process with a focus on patient care and safety. This position promotes high levels of satisfaction with patients, providers and staff through proactively addressing concerns through meaningful measures and interventions.

2. Develops vision for the department and executes plans to achieve vision;
3. Manages and coaches pharmacy staff;
4. Conducts the formal review process for each staff member and makes recommendations for wage adjustments;
5. Disciplines and terminates employees as required in consultation with the SVP of Ancillary;
6. Conducts regular staff meetings;
7. Remains accessible to listen to, converse with, advise and counsel staff in a confidential manner. Serves as a primary resource in solving employee work-related problems and helping employees perform to their potential;
8. Problem solves and addresses issues raised by physicians, employees, and patients;
9. Interviews and hires staff to fill vacated and new positions.
10. Profit and Loss responsibility for the department, including revenue, expenses and budgeting;
11. Develops goals and objectives and operational policies and procedures;
12. Notes process trends, variances, and problem areas and manages to Key Performance Indicators;
13. Manages the flow of the department to ensure compliance, access, efficiency and patient satisfaction;
14. Establishes effective strategies for programs and department with the goal of increasing market share;
15. Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures;
16. Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals;
17. Leads and directs the work of others, including managers in other departments;
18. May provide consultation on complex projects and is considered to be the top level contributor/specialist in the department.
19. Supports and promotes a positive image of the department outside the organization.
20. Monitors patient feedback and contributes to the process of resolving patient complaints and service issues.
Demonstrate Standards of Behavior and adhere to the Code of Conduct in all aspects of job performance at all times.
- Graduate of an ACPE-accredited School of Pharmacy and graduate degree in appropriate healthcare business field.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in the field or related area.
- Minimum of 6 years of leadership or management experience in a healthcare setting.
- Proficiency within the Microsoft Office suite of software.
- Lean Certification/trained.
- Proficiency with electronic medical records.
- Knowledge of organization policies, procedures, systems, and objectives.
- Knowledge of fiscal management and human resource management techniques.
- Knowledge of accounting systems, insurance billing and collecting, and budgets.
- Skill in planning, organizing, and supervising.
- Skill in exercising initiative, judgment, problem-solving, and decision-making.
- Skill in developing and maintaining effective relationships with medical and administrative staff, patients, and the public.
- Ability to communicate effectively both in writing and verbally.
- Ability to counsel/discipline personnel as requested or as may become necessary.

- Must maintain primary residence in the Confluence Health service area.
- Internal candidates: Bachelor's degree plus 3 years of relevant leadership experience with CHVS Leader certification.
