Position Summary:

The Confluence Health advanced education internship is designed for UW MHA interns to dive deeper into the inter-workings of a healthcare organization while contributing in meaningful ways to the success of Confluence Health initiatives. Interns are given real-world knowledge and experience necessary to be successful in their career in the healthcare industry. By pairing an intern's area of interest with organizational initiatives, interns will gain skills that are key to their future success. The environment allows for asking the right questions and using the right tools to solve real business problems and needs. The intern will collaborate with all levels of the leadership team to create a meaningful experience. This paid internship typically lasts 10-14 weeks in length and is scheduled for 40 hours a week.

Essential Functions:

1.     Create and execute a work plan with a preceptor assigned by Confluence Health.

2.     Understand Confluence Health's governance process, actively participate in leadership meetings, and receive ongoing mentoring by a preceptor and other members of the leadership team.

3.     Produce project related results that will be visible to key organizational decision makers.

4.     Understand the complexities of executing management-related projects.

5.     Communicate work results to various levels of the leadership team, including in formal presentations with appropriate documentation or research.

6.     Analyze information that is directly relevant to the initiatives of the organization.

7.     Synthesize and apply knowledge and skills from a variety of management disciplines.

8.     Participate in performance improvement via the Confluence Health Value System (lean methodology).

9.     Other duties as assigned.

Demonstrate Standards of Behavior and adhere to the Code of Conduct in all aspects of job performance at all times.



·          Actively enrolled in Master's degree level coursework (Masters in Health Services Administration) at the University of WA.

·          Interest in a career in the healthcare industry.

·          Be available 40 hours per week for 10-14 consecutive weeks during the summer.
