  • Position Summary: 





    Primary responsibility is to keep members SAFE while instructing water exercise classes in accordance with AEA guidelines and standards, guidelines established within the fitness industry and guidelines established at the Conway Regional Health & Fitness Center. 





     





    ·         Plan for each class PRIOR TO THE CLASS and come prepared with a routine, as well as a back up routine.  You are required to adapt your routine, as necessary, to the needs of the members in that particular class on that particular day.  This includes adaptations to music, choreography, equipment, modality, intensity, and directionality.





    ·         Keep class format current, state of the art, and variable (meaning that you present new routines with new choreography, new modalities, and varying levels of intensity)





    ·         Maintain a high level of motivation and enthusiasm at all times. 





    ·         Maintain a fitness level appropriate for effective instruction of the aerobic format–including the ability to exercise at a moderate to high intensity level for up to 3 hours per day





    ·         Come dressed in appropriate exercise attire, regardless of whether you are teaching in the water or from the deck.





    ·         Set up facility or equipment, store equipment, and secure facility upon
    completion of class.





    ·         Record and maintain attendance records.





    ·         Enforce aquatic rules and policies.





    ·         Attend all continuing education classes and trainings relevant to your certifications.





     





    Minimum Job Qualifications: 









    • Fitness level appropriate for effective instruction of the aerobic format– including the ability to exercise at a moderate to high intensity level for up to 3 hours per day




    ·         Current CPR certification required





    ·         Mentally alert (to recognize potential hazards and accidents)





    ·         Able to hear and follow the beat of the music





    ·         Visual ability to observe class participants during workout





    ·         Physically and mentally able to respond to emergencies and administer appropriate treatment





    ·         Current AEA, Basic Water Rescue, & First Aid Certification (preferred)





    ·         6 months experience teaching water exercise (preferred)
