Responsible for maintaining medical records that address the presence, accuracy, timeliness, legibility and authentication of pertinent data and information as required by Federal, State and JCAHO agencies. Ascertains that clinical pertinence review of medical records is performed in a timely, qualitative manner. Directs and develops all medical record personnel through adequate orientation and in-service. Ascertains that all personnel attend pertinent seminars and programs relative to their work responsibilities in the Department. Directs coding, transcription activities, DRG & Case Mix Analysis. Responsible for performance improvement activities within the Medical Information Department. Monitors and assists with hospital wide and medical staff indicators as outlined in the hospital wide Performance Improvement Plan. Responsible for the
Medical Library, obtaining various texts and journals as approved by representatives of the Medical Staff and obtaining copies through InterLibrary Loan. Assists medical staff and allied health staff in conducting searches for needed information. Serves as Administrative program coordinator of the Cancer Program and is ultimately responsible for the cancer registry meeting all ACS requirements, completion of the ACS Survey form, scheduling cancer conferences and cancer committee meetings and documentation of same.
Minimum Job Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree in Health Information Management or related degree
· Certification/License RHIT or RHIA required
· Minimum of 5 years experience in health information management, preferably in a hospital acute care setting
· Minimum two years of supervisory/management experience
