The scheduler presents the first impression to patients, physicians, and other customers. Their primary responsibility is to schedule appointments, facilitate and coordinate care between resource units and other departments, and communicate procedure preps or any other related information to the requestor. Obtain pre-authorization and medical necessity. Verify orders.
Education and/or Other Requirements
High school diploma or GED. Medical terminology required. Six months’ experience with use of mainframe or PC based system utilizing data lookup, data entry, screen use and multiple applications, or three-months coursework in computer usage. One-year customer service experiences (either via telephone in a medical setting or in-person) within the last five years.
