Provides basic nursing care to adult and geriatric patients under the direction and supervision of a registered nurse. Performs patient care according to plan of care. Charts information in medical records and signs record. Provides for physical comfort of the patients. Assists with lifting and transporting patients. Reports abnormal findings and changes in patient condition to appropriate staff. Prioritizes care on the unit. Completes admission and discharge procedures; takes vital signs per standard of unit.
*High school graduate or equivalent plus successfully completed a basic nursing course in an accredited RN program. Certified nurse aide or equivalent.
*Able to communicate verbally and in writing.
*Must be able to walk, stand, stoop, kneel and assist in lifting patient; able to assist patients and/or adjust equipment at floor level; able to support persons (possibly 200 pounds or more) in emergency situations; able to move quickly from place to place on occasion, including from floor to floor in emergency situations; able to hear to take blood pressure and to hear breath, heart and bowel sounds.
*Must possess visual acuity to meet visual demands in charting and operating equipment.
*Must be able to work under stress and adapt to changing conditions. Is expected to be an example of good health habits.
*Job duties involve the potential for frequent exposure to blood and body fluids.
