Job Description: Allergy / Asthma nurse for ENTA. Will be responsible for allergy testing as prescribed by physician. This includes skin testing, venom testing, patch testing and food challenges.
Nurse will assist other team nurses in performing spirometry and providing asthma and allergy education to patients. Nurse will instruct patients in use of inhalers and other asthma devices.
Nurse will assist other team nurses in giving allergy shots. This includes performing a brief health screening and physical assessment prior to giving shot and checking patient after their 30 minute wait time. Nurse will learn how to mix allergy vaccines and order allergy supplies.
Nurse will required to recognize signs of allergic reactions and how to treat them appropriately.
Previous allergy nurse experience is not required. There will be training provided for this new employee so that they can acquire the needed skills.
Performs nursing care procedures involving initial patient assessment, evaluation, and preliminary testing to meet patients needs; assist Physician with the care of patient.
Education and/or Other Requirements
Must possess a current Illinois Licensed Practical Nurse certification. Must be a graduate of an approved school of practical nursing. Previous experience in an ambulatory care setting is preferred.
