  • Position Summary
    • The Customer Service Representative is responsible for coordinating activity in the Main Lobby in a manner that portrays a warm and friendly atmosphere while, at the same time, gives the impression of Weeks Medical Center as a caring, professional health care provider. The Customer Service Representative will maintain an overview of activity in the Main Lobby and be aware of what various people are waiting for to assist in keeping things running smoothly.
  • Qualifications
    • High school graduate or equivalent
    • Experience in business or health care setting involving customer-service type responsibilities
    • Familiarity with health care setting and broad knowledge base of functions of various health care departments preferred.
    • Must be outgoing with a warm, friendly personality; smiles easily
    • Must have the ability to interact effectively with people of varied educational, socio-economic and ethnic backgrounds, skill levels and value systems
    • Must have ability to be objective; articulate; even-tempered and calm; and to respond appropriately to unexpected situations
    • Must be enthusiastic and have excellent human relations skills.
    • Ability to be aware of several things happening at once; remains focused during busy and, sometimes, confusing periods
    • Good organizational skills and work habits
    • Ability to work independently, using initiative and good judgment
  • Essential Functions of the Job
    • Greet everyone entering Main Lobby in a friendly, cheerful manner and inquire as to how each person can be assisted and follow through to be sure their needs are met in a timely manner.
    • Be aware of vehicles driving up to the entrance, noting whether anyone needs assistance getting into the building; offer wheelchair assistance if deemed appropriate. If assistance is needed, contact Emergency Department or Rehabilitation Services for help. Assist in enforcing parking guidelines as felt appropriate.
    • Maintain a supply of wheelchairs at main entrance.
    • Be an informational resource regarding all departments within the Medical Center.
    • For visitors of patients, ascertain whether visitors are welcome, if necessary, and provide information (i.e., room number, directions).
    • In coordination with Volunteer Manager, schedule and train volunteers to assist at Customer Service desk.
    • Develop and maintain a good working relationship with volunteer workers assigned to Main Lobby; direct and coordinate activities with them as appropriate, i.e., asking their assistance to escort people throughout the building.
    • Develop and maintain a good working relationship with volunteer workers assigned to adjacent departments; seek assistance from them as needed.
    • Perform “hostess-typeâ€쳌 duties, including casual conversation with those waiting, suggesting visits to dining room or gift shop for those with long waits, providing activities for children.
    • Assist in keeping Main Lobby clean, neat and free of clutter.
    • Perform all duties in a manner which keeps confidentiality and patient privacy in mind at all times.
