The Staffing Registry at EAMC is designed to create a pool of staff that can be used on a temporary basis in a number of areas in the hospital and our outside facilities (Cancer Ctr., physician practices, Lab Outreach, Lanier etc.)  Training will be held in Opelika. 

 

Registration Representatives at EAMC play an important role in greeting and registering patients who will undergo procedures at EAMC.  This position involves asking patients questions about their contact information, the procedures they plan to undergo, and insurance information.  Pre-Registration Representatives contact patients by phone before the patient visits EAMC.  Registration Representatives interact with patients as they arrive at EAMC to receive care.    While registering a patient, you may also work to collect unpaid medical bills to bring the patient's account current.  The Representative jobs are important because you will collect critical information from the patient while representing EAMC as its first contact with the patient.  As you work at EAMC, you'll find that insurance policies and practices change, so you'll constantly be learning new policies and codes.  Your performance will be assessed on metrics including how many patients you register in a day and how accurately you enter information.  You will interact on the phone or in person with more than 20 patients per day.  It is important that you are able to multi-task between working on the computer and talking on the phone or in-person to patients.  The ability to type is a must. 

 

Pre-Registration and Registration Representatives must focus on details and ensure that the information patients provide are accurately typed into the system.  Strong oral and written communication skills are a requirement.  You'll also be expected to be a team player and help your other Representatives when they have questions or when you finish your work quickly.

 

Training will include 3-4 consecutive weeks of classroom style insurance training. The hours for the classroom training are 8-:4:30 and you must attend all sessions.   This training course will be provided by our Business Office staff.  Once the classes are completed, you will train in a live registration site.  Those who are hired into this service will have to complete the training at a satisfactory level before they can be scheduled for a work assignment.   The estimated training time is  8-9 weeks.  Training time for individuals may vary due to performance.

Those who are hired as a Staffing Registry Registration Representative ARE NOT guaranteed permanent employment with EAMC.  Candidates chosen for this program are considered temporary, and will not be eligible for benefits. The base rate of pay during the training period is $7.25/hr, and will increase to $11.00/hr once it is verified that you are working independently (estimated time of 8-9 weeks, this may vary by individual).

Requirements: High School Diploma or equivalent (must provide proof prior to hire). A working knowledge of computers, an ability to operate a mouse, and use of a keyboard is a necessity of this job. Successful completion of a WorkKeys Assessment with a "Silver" ranking or better. This position may require work at both EAMC -Opelika and Lanier - Valley, AL.

The WorkKeys assessment is a part of the interview process, and will be administered on site and no cost to the candidate. If a candidate has already completed a WorkKeys assessment, he or she will be asked to present proof of their scores before a hiring decision is made.*
