Job Summary:


Northern Light Acadia Hospital Consult Services is a team of highly experienced providers including masters level clinicians (LCSWs/LCPCs), psychiatrists, psychiatric nurse practitioners and bachelors level discharge planners working in 18 emergency departments and inpatient units across the State of Maine on a 24/7 basis. We have current openings working within our team at Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center Emergency Department.


As a member of our interdisciplinary team, you will complete emergency psychiatric evaluations, assist in creating discharge plans and provide direct and immediate clinical care to patients and their families. Working in this setting assures you are always working at the top of your license and also assures exposure to various diagnoses and age groups, oftentimes within one day. Other than meeting the demands of the day, there are no productivity requirements and documentation is completed by the end of your shift. This is a fast paced, high energy job which relies on advanced and expansive clinical knowledge as well as the ability to make quick decisions and think independently.   • Must licensed by the Maine State Board of Social Work (LCSW/LCPC).  
  • Ability to be flexible and exercise independent judgment. 
  • Demonstrates collegial and multi-disciplinary relationships along the treatment continuum.  Experience in hospital-based clinical treatment services preferred. 
  • Completes Healthstream Mandatory Education on a yearly basis. 
  • Attends all mandatory safety related education programs. 
  •  Follows safety procedures to prevent injury to self and others. 
  • Carries assigned keys and wears hospital ID badge at all times. 
  • Refrains from the abuse of chemicals.

Language Skills:

Must possess good oral and written communication skills in the English language.


Physical Demands:

Visual acuity, colorvision, hearing acuity, and tactile sensation are necessary to respond to patient response and requests. The ability to read

and speak English, to communicate and document information. Must possess the manual dexterity and a degree of body strength and

flexibility to respond toaggressive patient behavior. The ability to reach and stretch intermittently.Time may be spent sitting at a computer, collaborating with other healthcare team members. Standing and walking comprises some of the workday.
