Under general supervision, formulates and defines system scope and objectives through research and fact-finding to develop or modify moderately complex information systems. Prepares detailed specifications from which programs will be written. Analyzes and revises existing system logic difficulties and documentation as necessary. Competent to work on most phases of applications systems analysis activities, but requires instruction and guidance in other phases.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (The following duties and responsibilities are all essential job functions, as defined by the ADA, except those that begin with the word "May.")

  1. Provides application software development services or technical support typically in a defined project
  2. Develops program logic for new applications or analyzes and modifies logic in existing applications
  3. Codes, tests, debugs, documents, implements and maintains software applications
  4. Analyzes requirements, and maintains, tests and integrates application components
  5. Ensures that system improvements are successfully implemented
  6. Solves complex problems; takes a new perspective using existing solutions; Analyzes possible solutions using standard procedures
  7. Builds knowledge of the organization, processes and customers
  8. Receives a moderate level of guidance and direction

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  1. Required Education and/or Experience:

    • Associate's degree with one year previous experience in IT or relevant user experience, or
    • Minimum of three years experience of relevant IT experience or relevant user experience, or
    • Bachelor's degree
    • Requires knowledge and experience in own discipline; still acquiring higher level knowledge and skills
