Job Objective: This position is responsible for analyzing clinical cancer information; independently completing patient abstracts according to all national and state reporting requirements. Accurate coding of primary site, histology, collaborative staging, AJCC TNM staging, surgical procedures and findings, radiation therapy, chemotherapy, hormonal therapy, transplant/endocrine therapy, clinical trials, and supportive care. Assists with state and national data submission, quality control of data including selection and preparation of charts for physician chart review, reviews and updates coding corrections and completeness errors, initiates treatment letters as necessary to obtain complete first course treatment, maintains department records, reports, and files as required. Attends cancer conferences and educational symposia as required for accreditation as an approved ACOS Commission on Cancer Program and other cancer registry operations as needed.
Education: 2 year college/equivalent, Associate's degree in health care field or Cancer Data Management Program completion.
Licensure/Certification: Certified Tumor Registrar eligible, Certified Tumor Registrar (preferred).
Experience: 2+ years Cancer Registry experience/equivalent.
