  • Job Objective:

    This position is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating the educational needs and activities for critical care staff.  Coordinates, develops, and presents educational programs to enhance, maintain, and assess competencies of the staff in critical care.  Utilizes nursing research and evidence-based practice in critical care nursing as a model for quality initiatives and nursing excellence. Reports directly to the Clinical Director, Critical Care Units.


    Education Required:   BSN


    Licensure/Certification Required:  CA RN License, BLS and ACLS from the American Heart Association 


    Experience Required:  Minimum five years clinical nursing experience; and minimum two years of Critical Care experience.


    Skills, Knowledge and Abilities Required: 

    Demonstrates strong knowledge of healthcare and regulatory standards in order to meet training needs.

    Demonstrates strong knowledge and clinical skills in critical care nursing.

    Demonstrates knowledge of the special needs of the critical ill geriatric patient population.

    Demonstrates competence in the Scope and Standards of Care for Nursing Professional Development.

    Demonstrates ability to communicate and teach effectively by using dynamic approaches

    Demonstrates strong interpersonal, organizational, and analytical skills

    Demonstrates active involvement in evidence-based nursing practice for critical care

    Demonstrates strong leadership abilities, leads by example

    Demonstrates strong verbal and written communication skills

    Contributes to Maintaining a Healthy Work Environment
