The Director of Cardiovascular Services is responsible for the implementation of the vision, mission, philosophy and core values of the organization and of Ephraim McDowell Health Nursing within defined areas of responsibility as well as for establishing and fulfilling department-specific strategic and operational goals and objectives. Accountable to the COO/CNO to maintain 24/7 leadership and supervision of designated departments so that safe, quality, cost-effective and comprehensive services are provided. Directs the nursing practice of professionals and support personnel in accordance with standards of practice as defined by the Kentucky Board of Nursing and in accordance with the Ephraim McDowell Health nursing professional practice model and collaborative interdisciplinary care delivery system. Coordinates nursing care in a manner that promotes shared nursing leadership and collaboration with other disciplines to accomplish patient and family-centered care. Exhibits the F.I.R.S.T values (Friendliness, Innovation, Respect, Service and Trust).
Working Conditions, Hazards and Physical Effort
Works in an office, clinical area, and community. May require extended hours or weekend work. Risks exposure to disease, infection and physical strain. Risks exposure to blood, body fluids and tissue. Moderate amounts of sitting, stooping, lifting, and bending. Moderate amount of time spent at computer terminal. Must be able to lift 50 lbs. independently.
Minimum Qualifications or Equivalents
Education: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. BSN required, MSN preferred.
Experience: Five (5) years experience in a clinical area. Three (3) years experience in a cardiology related department. Three (3) years experience in a leadership position required. Participation in a professional organization related to the specialty required.
Licenses, Certifications, and/or Registrations
Current licensure as an RN in the Commonwealth of Kentucky. Certification in Basic Life Support, Advanced Cardiac Life Support required. Certification in cardiology, critical care or leadership preferred.
