The Director of Medical Staff Services is accountable for the administrative aspects of the EMRMC organized medical staff business affairs and for the credentialing process of the medical staff and allied health practitioners within the total EMH system. Serves as a link in regard to medical staff and allied health practitioners between all EMH facilities to promote and enhance good communications and a positive working relationship. Demonstrates a commitment to professional accountability and growth to maintain and expand knowledge and skills. The incumbent meets all responsibilities in accordance with the Mission and Values of the Organization and maintains positive Physician relation with the Organization. Responsible for the confidentiality of medical staff affairs activities. Monitors changes in healthcare legislation, standards, regulations, and makes changes for adherence. Daily problem solving and conflict resolution skills are necessary. Must be able to collaborate with other managers as well as medical staff members; knowledgeable and effective in management; skillful in planning; must understand JCAHO, CMS, and NCQA standards, and state licensure regulations, as they relate to the medical staff business affairs. Must possess organizational and communication skills and be able to facilitate working with health care professionals in explaining procedures, coordinating medical staff affairs/activities, and reviewing with them draft of material prepared for approval. Must be willing to change and improve professional growth and knowledge of job to maintain effectiveness of medical staff office by participating in the medical center’s educational opportunities and professional organization NAMSS). Management training, computer knowledge required. Masters degree in business or administration preferred, or 10 years experience as a manager in administration or medical staff Services office. 5 years experience in management required. Certification by the National Association of Medical Staff Services as CPMSM (certified professional medical staff manager) and CPCS (certified provider credentialing specialist) preferred.
