Dietary Aide
Department: Dietary
Schedule: Per Diem
Shift: Day Shift
Hours: 6:30am - 3:00pm or 10:00am or 6:30pm
Job Details: - High school diploma or equivalent required

SUMMARY Performs a range of duties, including co-preparation, set up of food trays for patients and all cleaning related to food services.

 

 

Maintains clean food preparation, serving, and storing areas. Helps maintain cleanliness of kitchen appliances.

 

Maintains food supply, paper goods, linens, and other materials. Ensures that all needed supplies are readily available. Assists in storing stock items in proper storage areas.

 

Washes and properly stores all equipment used for meal preparation.

 

Serves food using proper portion control techniques.

 

Assembles prepared food for general and therapeutic diets.

 

Removes all trash and disposes it in appropriate area as needed.

 

Delivers clean dishes and supplies to proper kitchen area.

 

Deliver food carts to patient floors when needed. Returns cart to main kitchen at designated time.

 

Loads dish machines in patient and employee dish rooms; may be required to wash certain items by hand.

 

Cleans tables, chairs, and other surfaces in the cafeteria dining rooms assigned.

 

Communicates with all kitchen staff regarding food and kitchen supplies.

 

Maintains proper temperature for both hot and cold food.

 

Maintains food preparation, serving areas, and storage areas in a clean and orderly manner.

 

May be assigned by supervisor to clean floors, storage area, refrigerators and other kitchen appliance.

 

Must be able to follow written dietary orders. Accurately weigh, measure, and portion food.

 

Lifts and transports equipment and supplies weighing up to 50 pounds, with or without assistance, using safe body mechanics.

 

Successfully completes Hospital and department specific orientation and ongoing mandatory education requirements.

 

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Must be able to read, write, and communicate information related to essential duties.
