JOB SUMMARY Manages the functions of the cardiac diagnostic department ensuring quality patient care and efficient processes. Ensures quality patient care, adequate staffing in the department, and efficient processes. Oversees care planning with all areas involved with cardiac care. Models behaviors congruent with Genesis Mission and Values and promotes consistent adherence to the values wihtin the organization.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES 1. Guides the provision of all modes of cardiac care in accordance with accepted guidelines. 2. Collects, records and reports data in reference to ACS, MI, and HF cases. 3. Participates in Mission Lifeline efforts for statewide STEMI care. 4. Analyzes department related information regarding operations, budgets, personnel reports and/or other activities; and develops action plans based on identified trends and variances. 5. Works closely with program medical director and other staff to coordinate care for cardiovascular patients. 6. Effectively prepares reports and correspondence involving synthesizing information, writing text, and preparing final communications. 7. Maintains an effective system for managing and retrieving information to enhance operational efficiency. 8. Communicates pertinent information regarding department operations, issues, or concerns to Director. 9. Demonstrates effective human resource management. Responsible for appropriate recruitment, selection, and retention of staff, attempting to minimize turnover of productive employees. 10. Facilitates development of staff and motivates them to meet organizational, departmental, and professional commitments. 11. Delegates effectively by establishing clear expectations, knowledge to do the job with appropriate follow up mechanism while maintaining accountability. 12. Demonstrates proficiency with clinical knowledge in order to improve treatment of cardiovascular disease pathophysiology. 13. Responsible for heart failure center development and any future accreditation processes.
QUALIFICATIONS 1. BSN in nursing required. 2. A minimum of two years leadership experience required. 3. CPR certification required. 4. Computer proficiencies to enter and retrieve data, to assemble and organize data, to use, analyze, and integrate data from diverse sources. Use of Internet, e-mail and calendar required. 5. Ability to supervise and train staff including organizing, prioritizing, and scheduling assignments. 6. Knowledge of clinical operations, medical terminology, levels of care, treatment modalities, and the present health care delivery system. 7. High degree of skill in interpersonal relations with the ability to deal effectively on a one-to-one and group basis with physicians, nursing staff, administration, and other hospital departments. 8. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw conclusions. 9. Strong strategic and critical thinking skills, self-directed, goal oriented, and visionary. 10. Ability to coach employees to provide support to promote nursing excellence, and ability to foster teamwork and process change.
