The Outpatient Pharmacy Technician assists the pharmacist in preparing and dispensing pharmaceuticals.  They are the key manager of the pharmacies perpetual prescription inventory, the OTC medication inventory and supply inventory. They play a key supportive role in assuring excellent customer flow and service within the Outpatient Area.


Education/Experience:

High School Graduate or Equivalence Certificate

Pharmacy Technician experience preferred

 

Skills/Abilities:

Language skills – The Pharmacy Technician needs basic communication skills such as the ability to read and interpret memos, operating instructions, and procedure manuals. The Pharmacy Technician needs to be able to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to peers, customers, supervisors, and other employees.

 

Data Entry – The Pharmacy Technician needs to be able to perform accurate data entry, operate a computer keyboard and mouse, and learn computer applications specific to the department.

 

Mathematical Skills – The Pharmacy Technician needs to be able to calculate doses from stock bottles of medications using ratios, proportions and basic algebra.
