The Lead BMET will serve as the department manager in the manager's absence. The Lead BMET will support the maintenance and delivery of a high quality Medical Equipment Management Program by ensuring (through leadership example and indirect supervision) that staff use effective service strategies, good technical methods and practices, excellent communications, and professionalism to meet the customer's needs. The Lead BMET will also perform highly skilled preventive and corrective maintenance of considerable difficulty on a wide variety of the hospital's diagnostic and therapeutic clinical equipment. May be required to be "ON­Call".


-Associate degree or higher in a related field (electronics engineering technology, biomedical technology).

-Minimum of 5 years of experience and a preference for 7 years of experience as a biomedical equipment technician servicing a broad range of device types in a hospital setting. 

-Successful completion of 5 or more medical equipment manufacturer’s technical service training courses.



-Comprehensive knowledge of biomedical equipment types, clinical application, and their service practices and procedures. 

-General working knowledge of human anatomy, physiology, chemistry, and medical terminology. 

-Ability to work without supervision. 

-Ability to read and interpret technical manuals (including electronic schematics) and troubleshoot more complex equipment or system malfunctions to the circuit board and /or component level. 

-Ability to develop and maintain a highly effective service approach / plan that consistently results in a high level of service performance thereby supporting the highest level of patient care. 

-Ability to communicate (orally and written) effectively with peers and all levels of hospital staff. 

-Ability to complete 95% of assigned monthly PM’s.
