Director of Staff Development implements programs to meet the educational needs of all Hospice Interdisciplinary Team members. Participates in the orientation and staff developmental programs of the Agency. Will plan, develop and provide programs regarding changes in policies, procedures, regulatory requirements and accreditation standards through education. Identifies educational needs of Hospice personnel, recommends programs or other methods of education to meet identified needs.
Promotes the mission, vision, values of Good Shepherd Hospice, as well as their goals and objectives at his/her level of function.
License and current registration to practice as a registered professional nurse.
Masters Degree required
Certification in Hospice and Palliative Nursing required.
Knowledge of Medicare Conditions of Participation and The Joint Commission Accreditation of Home Care Organization standards to ensure the agency is compliant with state, federal and accreditation guidelines.
Intravenous Nurses Society certification or two (2) years experience in Critical Care, Medical, Surgical, Oncology or Home Infusion Nursing with demonstrated knowledge and skills in the core areas of infusion nursing.
Excellent communication, conflict and problem resolution, documentation, education/in-service/presentation, and business management skills.
Possesses organizational and leadership skills, flexibility and the ability to multitask.
Ability to train and develop all employees to meet agency expectations.
Willing to travel to multiple sites to foster good working relationships throughout the Catholic Healthcare System, in addition to all referral sources and community agencies.
Experience with design of educational programs using a variety of teaching approaches.
Experience with implementation and utilization of an online education program.
