DEFINITION OF POSITION:
Reports to VP of Nursing. Provides education and instruction for GSHCS clinical staff. Directly responsible to engage in and conduct education for and with nursing and non-nursing staff at GSHCS. Acts as a resource person to GSHCS staff and other healthcare personnel regarding professional healthcare education and training programs. This individual introduces technical and theoretical concepts in teaching techniques to the professional and paraprofessional GSHCS employees. Provides orientation & training programs, in-service education, and other educational programs for the development of clinical staff. Is proficient and will become certified in identified critical Epic modules with a responsibility to educate on this modules. Is proficient, or will become proficient, in the use of Simulation training using manikins and simulation software. Works closely with Education Coordinator regarding staff education, online training and competency-based education.
Required: Graduate from accredited school of nursing. Current Oregon RN license required. Motivated to continue education appropriate for skill level and area of practice.
Desired: BSN or MSN
Required: A minimum of five years hospital nursing experience. Computer skills, proficient in word processing programs and Internet use.
Desired: Experience teaching including direct teaching and evaluating learning process. Experience with teaching theories and learning models. Experience working/teaching utilizing simulation manikins and software.
C. LICENSES, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR REGISTRATIONS:
Oregon Registered Nurse license required. Healthcare Provider (HCP) CPR, PALS, and ACLS instructor certification required within 12 months of hire. Epic certification for specific modules as deemed necessary by the organization.
D. EQUIPMENT/TOOLS/WORK AIDS:
Knowledgeable in use of computers, printers, copiers, fax machines, audiovisual equipment, and the Internet.
E. SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
Ability to provide care for the patient's age-specific, cultural, physical and psychosocial well-being. Knowledge of educational and competency requirements for hospital employees. Ability to write educational objectives for healthcare employees and community members.
