The Development Assistant is responsible for providing general administrative assistance to the HMC Foundation with primary focus on support and assistance to the Manager of Special Events.


* Daily interaction with public by phone and in person

* Receptionist liaison between Foundation office and Special Events office

* Point person for all event RSVPs

* Assist/support Special Events Manager with all facets of events planning, execution and follow-up.


1-2 years of prior experience in fundraising, promotions/event planning, public relations, or marketing and/or relevant higher education in these areas.


This position requires excellent communication skills (both written and verbal).  The ideal candidate will have a pleasant, professional phone manner as well as the ability to demonstrate excellent teamwork, outgoing personality, positive attitude, persuasive and diplomatic, as well as excellent interpersonal skills.  Other requirements include: Excellent organization skills, detail-oriented, self-motivated with the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.  Computer skills including the use of Microsoft Word and Excel.  This position requires the ability to work occasional evenings and weekend hours.


Familiarity with web-based/online event software; Blackbaud “Sphere” preferred.  Familiarity with Adobe Suite design software preferred.  Prior special events experience or relevant educational experience in marketing and/or communications.
