To provide quality nursing care through application of the nursing process and established guidelines of nursing practice.  Responsible for the supervision of the nursing staff at Phillips Barber.


Orients new residents to the health center as part of office orientation with MD's, Practice Manager, and Coordinator staff.  Also participates with ongoing orientation and learning experience of all health center residents in the Family Practice Program. Prepares Nurses monthly schedule 4-6 weeks in advance of present schedule. Conducts yearly evaluations of Clinical support staff with the Practice Manager.  Does probationary evaluations of clinical support staff. Promotes continuing education for self and clinical staff.Develops and maintains and effective quality improvement program with measurable, pertinent and realistic performance criteria to monitor and improve services.


Assists Practice Director with the development of Clinical Staff policies and procedures. Assumes responsibility for adequate clinical medical supplies and medications including immunizations. Attends biweekly administrative meetings with the Practice Director and physicians to discuss work flow issues and patient care issues. Acts as a "super user" for the EMR process and assists in the developing work flow processes with the healthcare team.


Assists physician with physical examination, assessment of needs, diagnostic and treatment procedures.

Does assessments as evidenced by appropriate, accurate documentation (vital signs, heights, weights, etc.)

Performs nurse telephone triage:  answers health questions that may save a visit to the office; screens patient telephone calls for appointments to determine if they are necessary on that particular day; answers questions regarding childhood diseases, newborns, birth control, etc.


Nursing Diploma or Associates's Degree in Nursing required, Bachelor's Degree preferred.   One year of supervisory experience and outpatient nursing experience required. Current New Jersey RN licensure.  CPR certified, if not certified must obtain certification within 6 months of hire.
