Provides coverage for the medical assistant position as well as the secretarial positions when needed: Obtains patient information and vital signs; assists the physician with patient follow-up calls, screening and follow-up with patient test results; maintains medical record information; coordinates patient care information with other health care providers; obtains prior authorizations; assists in phone triage; answers the phone and directs callers to the appropriate person/department; takes messages; set appointments for the patients; assists with insurance verification, collection of copays, and management of medical record files. This position must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care and service appropriate to the age of the patients served in his/her area.
Graduate of approved technical training program.
Certification as Medical Assistant.
Registration, Certification and/or Licensure Required:
Current BLS for the Healthcare Provider or completed within 60 days of hire.
Previous experience working in an outpatient clinic or medical office.
Lift and carry 25-35 lbs.
Push/pull 50-100 lbs.
Occasional sitting, walking.
Occasional, twisting, bending, reaching, squatting, kneeling.
Frequent keyboard use.
Continuous talking, hearing.
Ability to read and write consistent with job requirements.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
General working knowledge of and ability to use office machines, including computers.
