The Accounts Payable Specialist is responsible for compiling and maintaining accounts payable records. 


Essential Responsibilities:


1.     Supports the IHA CARES mission and core values statement.  Strives to lead by example by demonstrating desired behaviors.

2.     Maintains knowledge and complies with all relevant IHA and office standards and procedures, including the IHA Employee Handbook.

3.     Is prompt, courteous and helpful in all interactions with internal and external customers in accordance IHA service guidelines.

4.     Maintains confidentiality of information as stated in the IHA Employee Handbook.  Takes precaution to ensure that confidential information is kept filed and is distributed from fax, copier and printer expediently.

5.     Maintains knowledge of office services.

6.     Maintains complete knowledge in the use of all relevant office equipment, computer, and manual systems.

7.     Checks and approves all vouchers for payment.

8.     Prepares invoice deduction notices, as necessary.

9.     Responds to assigned vendor inquiries.

10.  Prepares accounts payable checks.

11.  Prints all accounts payable reports and maintains all accounts payable files.

12.  Prepares analysis of accounts, as required.

13.  Assists in monthly closings.

14.  Reconciles vendor discrepancies and maintains vendor payment terms.

15.  Participation in annual financial audit preparation as required.

16.  Assists with special projects as needed.

Required Skills, Knowledge and Qualifications:


Education and/or Experience

1.     One year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.  Ability to write simple correspondence.  Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer Skills

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Accounting software; Database software; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.
