     This position is responsible for overseeing specified areas of the office in collaboration with office Nursing Leadership and the Practice Manager.  Primary responsibilities would include ensuring patients receive friendly, efficient service and maintaining efficient flow of the overall office while working with other supervisors to achieve operational goals as defined by the practice leadership.  This position is responsible for supervising the medical assistant staff and ensuring an effective team environment.
     Supervises day to day operations of assigned areas to ensure efficient, fiscally responsible and customer responsive procedures and operations. Staffs as MA when needed. Assists with recruitment, hiring, orientation, training and coaching of MA staff.  Effectively organizes and maintains training materials for new employees.
     Ensures efficient and effective scheduling for the MA staff. Maintains Time & Attendance program and coordinates timekeeping and time off requests. Maintains teamwork environment and a high level of employee morale. Evaluates the performance of MA staff, recommends merit increases, promotions and disciplinary actions.
     Keeps clinical staff informed on any change in guidelines and information pertinent to job requirements. Implements inventory control system related to clinical supplies and immunizations/medications. Manages clinical audits, internal and external, for the office. Contributes to the development and ongoing implementation of the CORE office work plan. Assists in development and oversight of office budget. Attends required internal and external meetings as assigned. Assists with organization, presentation and scheduling of office meetings.
     Liaison for Providers and staff: ensures policies and procedures are followed in compliance with federal regulations. Works with Providers, Clinical Leads and the Practice Manager to develop and clarify clinical protocols for staff. Communicates thoroughly and promptly with office leadership, physicians and staff regarding all issues impacting day to day operations. Liaison for provider and Triage when needed.


1.  Certified or Registered Medical Assistant with a minimum of 5 years clinical experience.

2.  Associates or Bachelors Degree in relevant field (Management, Healthcare Administration, etc.) is strongly preferred.

3.  Prior Supervisory experience is strongly preferred.

4.  Demonstrated ability to work independently and supervise a clinical office staff with the general oversight of the Practice Manager.

5. Ability to effectively supervise and manage Medical Assisting staff, providing feedback and guidance to staff and support more complex patient reception/medical records problems or insurance issues. 

6. Ability to communicate effectively with customers and visitors in a professional manner and in a way that is responsive to customer needs and the situation; must set a positive example for the staff supervised ensuring that there is adherence to IHA's Customer guidelines and philosophy.
