IU Health Hospice provides patients and their families comprehensive, family-centered care delivered by a highly trained interdisciplinary team. Hospice team members are available 24/7, with care provided where the patient lives. Offering traditional, complementary and alternative services, IU Health hospice professionals help patients carry out the activities and make the personal choices that add meaning to life.

 

The Hospice Clinical Nurses reflect the mission, vision, and values of Indiana University Health.  They adhere to the organization's Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines and all other regulatory and accreditation standards. While our clinical nurses (RN's) are accountable and responsible for the provision and coordination of competent, evidence-based care, which includes assessment, diagnosis, outcome identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation, our nurses participate in decision-making, teaching, mentoring, and collaboration with the multidisciplinary team to advance the patient plan of care, achieve outcomes and enhance operational efficiency. IU nurses must  adhere to the ANA Scope and Standards of Professional Nursing and the Code of Ethics for Nurses with Interpretive Statements.

 

In addition to the standards set above, our nurses will experience a team approach to serving our patients as well as the flexibility and autonomy to do their jobs and provide patients with individualized care.  We provide one on one patient interaction and education as well as critical thinking and clinical skills needed to help with areas such as infusion, wound care, VAC management, chronic disease process management and education which provide endless self-satisfaction and reward to our nurses. 

 

 REQUIREMENTS

  • Requires an Associates of Nursing (ASN); Bachelors of Nursing (BSN) preferred.
  • Requires that the RN has graduated from a nationally accredited nursing program.
  • Requires current state of Indiana license as Registered Nurse.
  • Requires Basic Life Support certification through the AHA.
  • Other advanced life support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies.
