Position Summary


Provides support services in Dietetics as assigned which relate to meal responsibilities. Practices safety and sanitation procedures, universal precautions and Core Values in all work duties. Coordinates the assembly of patient meals during the tray line process; check all meals for accuracy; ensure the timely delivery of food carts to the nursing units. The incumbent is held accountable for the accuracy of the food order as it can affect the well-being or life of a patient. Is responsible for associated sanitation, cleaning and infection control practices that ensure food safety. Receives food orders from patients via telephone calls or bedside, process food orders, to serve meals to patients in a professional, efficient manner. Instructs patients on meal ordering system and assists patients in placing meal orders. Assesses the patient's capabilities to utilize the meal order system. Serves as a public relations contact for the organization, responding to delicate and sensitive calls, which reflect on the organization's customer service.


  • Currently enrolled students in High School or a higher educational institution, specialized professional training or vocation training.
  • Must be actively enrolled and attending an educational institution while in this position.
  • High School students under 17 must be able to obtain an appropriate worker's permit under the department of labor rules and regulations.
  • Must have the ability to stand, walk long periods of time.
  • Also requires pushing, pulling, lifting, bending, and kneeling. Must have the ability to exhibit hand dexterity required for holding items. Must have the ability to lift up to 50 pounds; frequently lift 20 pounds. Must have the ability to communicate clearly with peers, supervisor, patients and others on a one to one basis using appropriate language. Must have the ability to read, write, comprehend and follow written and verbal instructions.
