Job summary: The PACS Administrator position is responsible for the ongoing maintenance, development, and new implementations of the hospital HIS Radiology modules and Picture Archiving and Communications Systems (PACS) used in the facility as well as new system implementations. The position has the responsibility of working as a liaison and project between administration, IT and the Radiology department on various projects that are assigned by hospital administration and IT management. Duties include but are not limited to implementation of new applications and equipment, daily maintenance on current system, report writing and user training on PACS and assigned HIS (health information system) modules and applications, which may include but are not limited to Meditech's ITS, OE, and RXM modules. This position will also work very closely with Radiology Director, Radiologists, Radiology and serve as a backup to the IT Network Administrator I position. Selected individual will also be required to participate in IT on-call rotation. Educational/Experience/Regulatory requirements: Ability to organize work, direct and set priorities, and effectively accomplish required duties with minimal or no supervision. An Associate's (or equivalent) required. Certification with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT), Bachelor's degree with emphasis in Information Technology, MCSE, CCNA or equivalent is preferred. In lieu of a degree, the candidate must possess relevant experience above and beyond the education requirements. One to two years previous acceptable experience in an Information Technology or related field required. One to two years previous experience working with a Radiology PACS system preferred. Intermediate level knowledge of Microsoft products required. Understanding of switched LANs, WANs, and other network architecture required. Experience with drawing software and network management tools required. Must be able to pass pre-employment testing including but no limited to clerical ability and typing test. Must be able to meet the public in a direct and professional manner. Previous work history that demonstrates steady attendance and punctuality is required. Must be able to read & communicate effectively in English. Must be able to communicate firmly what is required of patients in regard to their financial status. Must be able to communicate (orally and in writing) effectively with patients, doctors, and other departments in the institution.
