Job Details: Job Summary: Under the direction of Customer Service Supervisor and the Director of Revenue Cycle, the Financial Representative is responsible for all aspects of financial counseling. Job duties include but are not limited to reviewing all scheduled appointments, admissions and registration to identify any encounters with potential financial concern; meeting with patients and/or their representatives to advise them of their financial obligations related to their visit or past visits according to hospital policy; meeting with patient and/or their representative to collect complete and accurate financial information in the event that additional financial assistance is needed; acting as a resource to the registration/scheduling staff in all areas of Patient Accounting; and notifying management and other collection staff of any potential problems with the collection of patient account balances. Counsels inpatients and outpatients about their insurance coverage and collect deposits and makes financial arrangements with self-pay accounts.  Verifies insurance coverage of patients and notifies the patient and appropriate hospital personnel of any issues. Education/Regulatory Requirements & Experience: High School Diploma required. Advance degree preferred.  Two years previous acceptable experience in a healthcare revenue cycle department with an emphasis on Financial counseling or collections. Two to Four years experience dealing with Medicare, Medicaid, HMO’s, triage, and commercial health insurance programs required. ·Typing speed of 30-40 wpm required. ·Must be able to pass the Clerical Ability Test with a score of 80% or better as given by the Human Resources Department. · Must be able to communicate firmly what is required of patients in regards to their financial status. ·Previous work history that demonstrates steady attendance and punctuality is required.
