The Construction Project Manager reports to department leadership and is responsible for the daily coordination and oversight of capital renovation and replacement projects on and off the hospital campus. Responsible for the daily management of projects to ensure the projects are completed on schedule in a high quality, cost effective manner in accordance with CHKDHS vision and mission. Plans and coordinates assigned projects in collaboration with affected departments, contractors and other supporting vendors. Ensures all project related documentation is in place to ensure projects meet or exceed all appropriate healthcare regulatory, safety and infection control standards. Tracks and reports project cost, schedules and status along with recommendations to keep projects on time and on budget. Participates in routine and final inspections with inspectors. The manager is expected to independently carry out assigned responsibilities, but seeks guidance from the Manager of Facility Planning and Construction and/or upper management when needed. Performs other duties as assigned.
Experience, Education and Training Minimum: High school graduate or equivalent preferred. Technical training and work experience in a trade with a masters level preferred or equivalent experience and/or training. Broad knowledge of all other trades. Five or more years of project planning, budgeting and construction project management required. Healthcare and CAD experience preferred. Ability to effectively communicate difficult messages in a tactful manner. Excellent computer skills and experience with Microsoft Office software necessary. Must possess a valid Virginia driver's license and be able to meet the insurance requirements of the hospital.
