General Summary:


The Chaplaincy Services Supervisor reports to department leadership and is responsible for the coordination and direction of spiritual care services provided to patients, families, and staff through visitation, spiritual assessment, crisis intervention, ethics consultation, group work, bereavement support, and follow up.



Duties and Responsibilities:


·        Plans and administers the effective operation management of chaplaincy services and programs.

·        Coordinates and directs spiritual care services to patients, families, and staff.

·        Utilizes a variety of religious and spiritual resources to access and meet spiritual needs of a diverse patient population.

·        Serves as a resource to staff on the appropriate assessment of spiritual needs.

·        Collaborates with multidisciplinary teams to provide holistic care to bereaved.

·        Offers rituals of comfort when requested, which may include prayer and baptism/dedication.

·        Serves as a resource for patients, families, and staff reflecting on ethical issues.

·        Performs other duties as directed by management. 


Licenses and/or Certifications:


·        Board Certified Chaplain



Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:  


·        Theological education with Master of Divinity degree or equivalent required.

·        Minimum three years of experience as a board certified chaplain required.

·        Psychiatric chaplaincy training and experience preferred.

·        Professional knowledge of areas of responsibility in order to assist in the planning and implementation of department activities.

·        Interpersonal skills necessary in order to assign work to subordinates.

·        Ability to work as a multidisciplinary team member.
