Performs a wide variety of patient care activities and accommodative services to support a defined patient population program or service (Sickle Cell, Bleeding Disorders ,Oncology, Late Effects, Neuro-Oncology). Demonstrates excellence in practice characterized by quality patient care and participation in formal and informal patient and staff education. Provides developmentally appropriate psychosocial and clinical care. Reports to Nurse Manager/Specialty Clinical Supervisor and works in close cooperation with and under the clinical guidance of the practice physician(s). Performs other duties as assigned.
Experience, Education and Training Minimum: Professional knowledge of nursing theory and practice as it relates to the area of expertise. Current Virginia state license as a Registered Nurse or Registered Nurse holding a valid Compact State license. Bachelors of Science in Nursing required or actively enrolled in a BSN program with graduation within three years of hire. MSN or specialty certification preferred. Technical and professional knowledge and skills unique to the clinical services provided, usually acquired through 3-5 years progressive clinical experience in the related specialty area. Pediatric experience preferred. CPR Training required and/or must be obtained within 45 days of hire. Pediatric Advanced Life Support certification required if necessary for the performance of the job role (applies to: Oncology, Neuro/Oncology, Late Effects, Sickle Cell performing in the infusion area). APHON Chemotherapy and Biotherapy Provider Course and Maintenance required and/or must be obtained within 90 days of hire and COG (Children's Oncology Group) membership required if necessary for the performance of job role (applies to: Oncology, Neuro/Oncology, Late Effects, Sickle Cell performing in the infusion area). Valid Virginia driver's license necessary if required for the performance of job role.
