GENERAL SUMMARY: The Behavioral Health Technician reports to department leadership. Performing under the supervision of a registered nurse, responsible for assisting in the delivery of continuous individual patient care, interaction, supervision and role modeling to pediatric patients and families. The Behavioral Health Technician will assist the treatment team in the collection of data, observation and reporting of physical and behavioral changes to licensed staff, de-escalation of patients and maintaining safety of patients and the environment. Performs other duties as assigned.

Experience, Education and Training Minimum:

 

Required:

  • High School Graduate or equivalent.
  • Current certification as a nurse assistant, medical technician, medical assistant, emergency medical technician, or completion of a hospital-based training program for unlicensed assistive roles with similar clinical competencies.

Preferred:

  • Degree from an accredited college or university in social work, psychology, recreational therapy or related therapeutic discipline.
  • Work experience in the treatment of children and adolescents seeking psychiatric treatment.  One year of related experience, with understanding and knowledge of mental illness is preferred.

Upon Hire:

  • Current Health Care Provider BLS training during orientation.
  • Crisis Prevention (CPI) certification within three months of hire.
