This position reports to department leadership. The education coordinator functions in an advanced clinical role to provide education to staff, and other healthcare personnel. Assists in developing and implementing evidence based practice changes. Plans, provides, and monitors individualized respiratory care in response to specific patient needs. Provides developmentally appropriate psychosocial and clinical care respective to the assigned patient population.
Experience, Education and Training Minimum: Current registration as a Registered Respiratory Therapist from the National Board of Respiratory Care preferred. Bachelor of Science degree and NPS certification preferred. Minimum of 2-3 years experience in pediatric Respiratory Care required. Demonstrated excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to plan, develop, coordinate and maintain a professional work environment. Must have interpersonal skills to communicate detailed clinical observations and evaluations with other members of the healthcare team. Must have analytical skills necessary to assess and prioritize care based on assessments. Previous education coordinator experience in a healthcare setting a plus. Critical thinking abilities a must. Must maintain licensure in the Commonwealth of Virginia. CPR Training, PALS, and Neonatal Resuscitation Provider ( NRP) designation required and/or must be obtained within 90 days of hire.
