Maintains and organizes the anesthesia environment, equipment, and supplies to assist anesthesiologists and anesthetists in the acquisition, preparation, application and administration of anesthesia. Anesthesia Technicians provide support in anesthesia for routine and complex surgical cases by assisting in the preparation and maintenance of patient monitoring devices and anesthesia delivery systems before and during anesthesia. Anesthesia technicians are integral member of the anesthesia patient care team, working under the direction and supervision of the Registered Nurse, CRNA or Anesthesiologist.
High School diploma/GED required. Previous experience in one of the following areas: EMT, Respiratory Therapy Technician, CENA, and/or Anesthesia Technician preferred. Previous class in Human Anatomy preferred. On-call required, must be able to arrive at hospital within 30 minutes of call. Strong verbal communications skills, as well as ability to pay close attention to detail required. Must be able to perform a variety of skills according to patient needs and apply skills for the care role with successful completion of unit specific training 30 day on the job training. Must demonstrate ability to organize, prioritize and manage time. Must have the ability to effectively cope with physical and mental stress.
