Plans and delivers nutrition care of patients/residents in accordance with the physicians' diagnoses and requirements of regulatory agencies. Functions as a member of the multi-disciplinary health care team to screen newly admitted patients/residents to identify those at nutritional risk. Develops orientation, continuing education, knowledge and skills as appropriate for patients of any age, including the neonate, child, adolescent, adult and geriatric patient plus the terminally ill patient.
HS Diploma or GED required. Registry-eligible or Registered Dietitian status with the American Dietetic Association. A registry-eligible dietitian is required to become registered within 6 months from his/her date of hire. Must coordinate and work effectively with nutrition services personnel, residents, patients, families, and interdisciplinary team members to provide nutritional care. Skills sufficient to interact effectively with sick and/or irritable patients. Must be able to provide effective instruction to patients and family members. Much sitting, standing and walking. Ability to reach, bend, twist, handle objects and lift/carry up to 15 lbs.
