  • Responsibilities:

    In the float position, the MA will work in a variety of settings.  This includes but is not limited to working the front desk, back office clinical, call center functions and referrals.  This position will float to whatever department has the primary need.  While most of the time, this will be set in advance, it will also change the same day depending on need.  This requires being very flexible, having multiple methods to receive communication and reliable transportation.

     

    Receptionist/Front Office Duties: answering the phone, registration and clerical support duties as needed.  Will perform telephone triage and other clerical, clinical support functions to ensure that all patient needs are being met in a timely manner.

     

    Clinical/Back Office Duties: Will rotate to the back, performing clinical functions during co-workers time off.  Assists the provider with the medical needs of patients.  Responsible to obtaining information from patients for the medical record, vitals, injections, preparing patient for exams and assisting physician with exam, performing diagnostic procedures and treatments following policies and procedures, referrals and cleaning and sterilizing instruments and supplies adhering to OSHA standards.  Will also administer specific medications as approved by physicians and perform in office tests as well as educate patients.

     

    Other duties as required and needed in office setting with multiple providers and staff.  Work with other staff to maintain a team-oriented environment.  Associates are expected to float to other departments when there is a high need or on a low census day.

     

    Requirements:

    Certificate from an accredited Medical Assistant Program.  Certified or Registered is preferred (or able to obtain within 6 months of hire).  BLS Certification and Bi-lingual (Spanish) skills are preferred.  MCIR skills are preferred.  Must have strong communication skills, excellent phone etiquette and an ability to relate in a caring manner to all patients.  Provide exceptional service excellence that meets patient and co-worker expectations in accordance with published standards.
