PRIMARY PURPOSE: This clerk serves as receptionist, admit clerk, data entry clerk and cashier for the Emergency Room. Ensures that accurate patient information is collected, required forms signed and that patients are aware of hospital policies and procedures.
EDUCATIONAL AND/OR PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma or equivalent.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Previous experience in a healthcare setting is desired.
SPECIAL SKILLS / KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS: Typing 50 WPM and general office skills. Medical terminology, computer and collection experience desired. Must possess good interviewing skills to obtain accurate patient information. Must have good communication skills, outgoing personality, professional image and enjoy assisting customers. Must be available to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays.
EQUIPMENT AND MATERIALS KNOWLEDGE: Computers and other office equipment; Must be physically able to assist patients with wheelchairs, etc. Use safety equipment as it relates to the job.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to sit and stand for long periods of time.
