PRIMARY PURPOSE: Performs procedures pertaining to patient and third party insurance, including verification, pre-certification, admission notification and counseling with In/Outpatient Registration Clerks that handle in-house collection. Carries responsibility of being a final check point for correct computer entry of patient demographics and insurance information. Also, will confer with Case Management to ensure patient status is updated and complete. Will back up In/Outpatient Registration Supervisor during his/her absence. Will receive messages and guide In/Outpatient Registration Clerks in making decisions during the daily flow of work.
EDUCATIONAL AND/OR PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma or equivalent.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Previous experience in a healthcare setting desired.
SPECIAL SKILLS / KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS: Typing 50 wpm and general office skills. Medical terminology, bookkeeping, collections and computer experience desired. Must possess good interviewing skills, communication skills to obtain accurate patient information. Must be available to work various shifts and available to work holidays.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to sit, stand and walk for long periods of time.
