Basic Functions: LMC Cooks create a pleasurable restaurant style dining experience for patients and staff by providing a variety of specialty items and nutritional selections, cooked to order. Will be responsible for providing a-la-carte dining experiences for patients in a "room service" fashion. Follows recipes to prepare all food items necessary for patients, cafeteria, Child Development Center, and catered functions in a timely fashion. Prepares food based upon specific direction, which may include modified diet restrictions. Plans and organizes work schedule to ensure that food is ready, garnished, and on the line as scheduled. Cleans and sanitizes food service equipment according to schedule using proper cleaning agents. Minimum Qualifications: Must be able to understand and follow written and oral instructions Prior experience as a cook in a restaurant, hotel or healthcare facility where cooking was done in large quantities Requires 3 moths of on-the-job training to become proficient with policies and processes Must have demonstrated kitchen fundamentals and mathematic skills Strong leadership, communication and organizational skills Must be proficient in culinary arts and desire to provide the highest quality of food to customers Must understand quality assurance practices Must understand and practice Sanitation and DHEC regulations/compliance Preferred Qualifications: High School Diploma or GED More than one year of experience as a cook in a restaurant or facility serving a high volume of customers Previous culinary retail background Good overall background in culinary arts with a proven commitment to the profession
