POSITION SUMMARY: The Patient Service Representative under the supervision of a
Patient Access Supervisor and/or Patient Access Manager and the Director of Revenue Cycle; performs services in a designated area according to the policies, procedures, philosophy, and objectives of the department and hospital. Works cooperatively within department and other services to create a system of quality health care.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES: Maintain current knowledge in areas of Admitting and Registration. Interviews inpatients and outpatients with a courteous and professional demeanor to obtain accurate demographic and financial information (or maintain existing information) for a medical record and billing third party payors. Enters all such information into the hospital information systems. May also obtain information from physician referral slips. Obtains all required signatures relevant to patient treatment, financial agreement, and regulatory requirements. Responsible for selecting appropriate screens and codes to insure that statistics are maintained accurately for financial reporting.
