    Plant Operations



    Position Summary

    Under general supervision, maintains Hospital vehicles, ground equipment and tools in a clean and operating order.  Maintains the Hospital grounds in a clean, safe and attractive condition.  Performs general maintenance repairs as needed.    



    • Plant, cultivate, water, fertilize, weed, edge, spray, mow and trim lawns, flowerbeds, scrubs and trees.

    • Operate Hospital vehicles, riding mowers, tractors, trimmers, and other light yard equipment and performs minor repairs on same when directed.

    • Remove leaves, trash and snow from walks, stairs, entrance, driveways and parking lots manually and by means of motorized equipment

    • Cut down and remove fallen and dead trees and limbs with power saws, handsaws and/or axes. Attempt to preserve damaged trees.

    • Operate compactor to dispose of all types of trash including broken concrete, leaves, bottles and so forth.  Remove animals and insects from grounds and exterior surfaces.

    • Perform landscaping and lawn projects, repair parking lot, walks and other areas; unload salt, fertilizer and other supplies, material and equipment.

    • Assist Maintenance/Plant Operations personnel in performing general repairs.



    • Must be able to understand, transmit and follow simple oral and/or written instructions and be able to perform simple arithmetic calculations.  Minimum of high school level of knowledge is required.

    • Three to six months' on-the-job training required for full comprehension of all job details.

    • Work independently and use good judgment.

    • Must have a valid Ohio driver's license and a driving record acceptable by the LMHS liability insurance carrier.
