    Position Summary

    A clinical competent registered professional nurse who delivers patient care through the nursing process of assessment, planning, intervention, implementation and evaluation in the Maternal Child area according to policies and procedures.  Prescribes, delegates and coordinates the nursing care provided to patients throughout the health system.  Effectively interacts with the patient, significant others and health care team members while maintaining the standards of professional nursing.  Job requires knowledge; skill and ability to provide care for neo-natal, adult and geriatric patient population.  Professional will be required to complete Home Visits on new babies and moms.  Accountable to the patient and family for care provided and to the assigned patient care manager for the totality of work performance.  Meets all standards and requirements of LMHS universal job description.



    • Demonstrate ability to utilize EMR system.

    • Demonstrate ability to utilize EMR system.

    • Effective newborn stabilization and assessments from birth through discharge.

    • Maintain Glucometer Competency

    • Maintain Glucometer Competency

    • Ability to complete Maternal Child patient education

    • Phototherapy administration

    • Maintain knowledge of all equipment for use in the department.

    • Maintain knowledge for modified L&D cross training.

    • Perform other duties as requested.

    • Appropriately manage newborns, antepartum, postpartum and GYN patients.



    • Obtain NRP certification with in 6 mo. Of hire & maintain certification thereafter.

    • Utilize hospital information systems.

    • Understand/adhere to hospital and department policy & procedures.

    • Communicate effectively with physicians, co-workers and ancillary staff.

    • Current R.N. licensure for Ohio and maintain.

    • Current CPR card and maintain.

    • Obtain/maintain ECG rhythm recognition.

    • Formulate nursing care plans.

    • Document/Communicate pertinent information regarding patient condition.

    • Provide direction and supervision to LPNs, POCTs and other ancillary staff

    • Accurately transcribe physician orders into Meditech system

    • Work independently.
