  • Job Summary: This position will support LLUMC's strategic plan and the organization's mission to continue the teaching and healing ministry of Jesus Christ, while embracing the core values of Compassion, Integrity, Excellence, Teamwork, and Wholeness. The Resident Chaplain performs general Chaplain Responsibilities in harmony with the mission of the Medical Center and is committed to the ministry of Chaplaincy as a career. A mid-point evaluation for satisfactory progress will be conducted by VP Mission and Culture. The resident will pursue employment within the LLUMC or Adventist Health. Clinical hours will be spent providing comfort and advice on problems and questions concerning spiritual guidance and will conduct religious services and chapel functions for patients, families and employees. Participates in specialized leadership training, mentoring, and research. To meet the IRS standards for ministerial services and parsonage eligibility requirements, the required ministerial responsibilities must be performed. Performs other duties as needed. Job Specifications: Professional knowledge of theological and medial ethical issues required. Able to use computer, printer, and software programs necessary to the position. High regard for the dignity and worth of patients and their families. Able to speak clearly in person and over the phone. Able to write clearly and concisely. Able to listen and interact with patients and their families. Able to deliver community presentations. Able to deal effectively with family members and staff under stressful circumstances. Sensitive to emotional signs of the ill and understands counseling techniques. Able to cope with stressful situations and able to document accurately according to standards. Must be able to work with minimum supervision and make independent decisions while interacting with other hospital staff. Able to concentrate on several assignments simultaneously. Able to edit, organize and prioritize. Able to execute duties in an efficient manner with attention to detail. Able to receive and carry out instructions. Master's Degree in Clinical Ministry. Minimum of one year of Pastoral experience required or equivalent 2 units of CPE Training (if not already obtained; 4 units total by end of residency) Ordination or in progress. A ceremony to publicly recognize one's fitness by your Denomination for full-time service in Pastoral Care. Ministerial credential, commissioned ministerial credential, and ministerial license required. NAD ministerial license required if considered by the church a Spiritual Leader.
