REPORTS TO Logistics Facilitators
ROLE OVERVIEW In co-operation with the Logistics Facilitators and Material Management, the Delivery Specialist will deliver supplies throughout the MACL service area. Delivery Specialist will include standard routes and will call deliveries. Deliveries will include but not limited to, medical supplies (boxed), mail, office equipment, etc… all above items that are delivered may be returned to delivery port as returns occasionally. Along with the main function of delivering supplies, Delivery Specialist may be required to pick-up patient lab specimens and drop them off at a MACL lab. During times deliveries are not required, Delivery Specialist will be functioning as a Stat Courier. As a Stat Courier, will pick up customer specimens and deliver reports and supplies to designated location(s) in a reliable and timely manner, monitoring the integrity of each specimen, while maintaining positive customer relations. The standard of ethical and professional performance must be consistent with established medical laboratory practice and demonstrate the philosophy of Mid America Clinical Laboratories.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED Must be a high school graduate and logistics experience including courier service is preferred. Excellent interpersonal skills. Valid State Driver’s License and a good driving record defined by the Corporate Safety Policy. Must have a good driving knowledge of Indiana geography and surrounding areas.
SKILLS REQUIRED Must be able to work with a team to achieve department goals and objectives. Must be a self-starter and have the ability to multi-task. Must pay close attention to details and detailed documentation. Must be stress tolerant and adaptable.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Will assist Logistics Facilitators in the following functions, including but not limited to: 1. Delivering boxed medical supplies of all types to medical centers, hospitals and offices. 2. During non-delivery times will work as a stat courier. As Stat Courier, will pick up customer specimens and deliver reports and supplies to designated location(s) in a reliable and timely manner, monitoring the integrity of each specimen, while maintaining positive customer relations. 3. Deliver supplies and picking up specimens to designated laboratory/Logistics site using appropriate handling, storage, and transportation methods, including the use of Styrofoam containers, dry ice, cold packets, etc., to maintain specimen integrity, 4. Establish and maintain positive customer relations by being friendly, courteous, helpful, neat and clean while presenting a professional image within MACL clothing and grooming guidelines. 5. Performing such services as delivering confidential test reports and other types of information (e.g., new test information /explanation, instructions regarding procedures, and holiday closures). 6. Complete and submit all administrative forms such as daily route reports, supply requisitions, accident reports, and supply requisitions. 7. Make route recommendation regarding improvements and changes. 8. Must be able to drive a van, box truck or car as needed. 9. Adhere to all safe driving regulations and vehicle maintenance procedures as established by governmental agencies, company Driving Manual and MACL policies and procedures. 10. Must be able to problem solve issues clients present with supplies, returns and specimen handling. 11. Demonstrates excellent time management skills necessary to meet deadlines. 12. Follows all MACL Safety policies and practices. 13. Adjusts to changing situations, learns new and different tasks. 14. Be able to use a computer to receive e-mail and complete training tasks. 15.
